    Why is Staying Active so Important?

    outdoor exerciseTo improve your quality of life, you can do much worse than staying active! Although diet is one of the key ingredients to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, getting outside and warming your muscles is also incredibly important!

    Flexibility
    One of the major afflictions that many of us suffer from as we grow older is general aches and pains. A great way to combat this is to regularly stretch and exercise; as you limber up through regular activity, you will experience a noticeable improvement in injury prevention!

    Heart Health
    Increasing your heart rate through exercise is a great way to improve your overall heart health. The heart is a muscle, and just like all muscles, if you neglect it, it’ll become weak! Regular activity is a great way to maintain heart strength, whilst improving overall fitness and health.

    Weight Loss
    If your goal is to shed a few extra pounds, exercise and diet are the two tools you need. A healthy diet helps you achieve a calorie deficit (more calories used than consumed), which means your body will use your fat stores as energy (thus you losing weight). Exercising helps you to increase the number of calories you use, whilst also making sure your muscles stay strong (helping you to appear toned and healthy).

    Wellbeing
    There’s nothing better than the sense of achievement after getting outside and getting some exercise; the endorphin release is well documented as being a fantastic stress reliever. If you’re stuck behind a desk and computer screen all day, treat yourself by getting outside and doing a bit of light exercise! Your skin will also love you for the additional Vitamin D!
