Yorkshire “Bike & Hike” 2019

Posted by on Thursday, March 7, 2019

Following on from last years success at Snowdon, we would simply like to run another “Bike & Hike”weekend.

You can just bike, just hike or hopefully both –

The weekend will be Friday 14th June – Sunday 16th June 2019.

If you want to both ‘Bike & Hike’ then on the friday then we will get up to Yorkshire as early as we can and spend as much as the day as we can on the mountain bikes (Route to be confirmed)

We then meet up for dinner with those who are arriving later on the friday with the one objective of doing the the Yorkshire Three Peaks hike on the Saturday.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge includes:

To complete this route is to undertake one of the great outdoor challenges of the UK. It will be a tough day, but worth it for that feeling of satisfaction upon completion.

The scenery is dramatic and ever changing, wildlife abounds as do carpets of flowers encouraged by the nutrient rich soils of the Limestone pavement.

We start and finish in the sleepy village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale, from here we can observe much of the route that lies waiting for discovery.

  • Total Distance:  37km/23 miles
  • Ascent: 1381m/4531ft.
  • Target time: 12 hours.
  • Amazing scenery through the Yorkshire Dales.
  • Start & finish in Horton-in-Ribblesdale village.

The accommodation we use is a simple, clean and tidy barn with dorm style rooms and bunk beds. (really is great fun)  YOU WILL NEED A SLEEPING BAG & PILLOW

Please have a look at the footage from one our previous events
